Carlsberg UK – Supporting Free Trade Customers

As part of the support package to their free trade Tetley customers Carlsberg UK commissioned Cask Marque to visit 600 Tetley stockists in Yorkshire to conduct a full bar and cellar audit and provide one to one onsite training.

Fuller, Smith & Turner – Gaining Information about Discovery

With the recent launch of their Discovery cask beer, Fullers commissioned Cask Marque to do mystery drinker visits on 90 of their managed houses to check the quality of the beer, the quality of the dispense, the staff knowledge, the point of sale on display and glassware. If the audit was passed then the member of staff was rewarded with a High Street gift voucher.

Caledonian Brewery – Mobile Bar

If you have ever been to the Great British Beer Festival then the chances are you will have seen the Caledonian Brewery Mobile Bar. It is a portable bar which is driven from site to site, days in advance, to allow cask ales to be set up and dispensed in perfect condition, whatever the venue.

JD Wetherspoon – Glycol Systems

JD Wetherspoon have recently installed glycol systems in all of their pubs. This allows keg beers to be chilled to and served at a temperature of 1°C. To check if these systems are working effectively, whenever Cask Marque conduct a Cask Marque audit at an accredited JD Wetherspoon outlet we are also asked to record the temperature and quality of Fosters Super Chilled and Strongbow Extra Cold.

The Spirit Group – Bar & Cellar Auditing

For the last few years all Spirit Group managed houses have been receiving an annual full bar and cellar audit from Cask Marque. This has recently been integrated into their four times a year quality program which also includes food and health and safety checks. These audits are used to help identify those members of staff who require additional cellar management training.

WaverleyTBS – The Supply Chain

The Cask Marque Distributor Charter is used to highlight those companies who have all the measures and equipment in place to ensure that beer is always delivered in perfect condition to their customers. WaverleyTBS were the first company to gain this award at all of their depots.

Greene King – Using Cask Marque as Part Of Quality Scheme

Greene King are using Cask Marque Accreditation as part of their quality scheme. Greene King managers and licensees undergo a days training to gain the Bii Award in Beer & Cellar Quality (ABCQ). The next step is a ‘Profit through Quality’ visit from a member of Greene King Technical Services at their premises. If they reach the required standard on this audit then the licensee will be put forward for Cask Marque accreditation.

Cask Marque stands for:
  • Excellence in the service of cask ale.
  • Awarded to the licensee rather than to the pub.
  • Jointly funded by brewers and retailers.
  • Inspections made twice a year.

  • “Good cellar management is the key to serving cask ales in their prime. Cask Marque will be invaluable to customers, retailers and brewers alike.” Paul Wells, Chairman, Independent Family Brewers of Britain

  • “Cask ale is the lynch-pin of our pub tradition and Cask Marque’s success will underwrite the future of both ale and pubs”. Nick Bish, Chief Executive, The Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers

Look out for the Cask Marque Plaque. This guarantees beer quality in the outlet and the opportunity to TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.
